This is a pattern I have noticed for 7-8 years occuring between the period July to November, during the monsoon period and also the post-monsoon period. It is TOO VAST a topic to cover right now, but here are some ongoing Crises and Solutions:
First let me point out to some Crisis Dates. These are Full Moon and New Moon dates , when there are maximum level of Tide incoming.
Note that it doesn't mean crises will occur especially on those dates.
MOST IMPORTANT POINT IS TO THROUGH MASS MEDIA , of which innovative measures can still be found, to reach the far-flung areas -ASK PEOPLE NOT TO PANIC.
Reason is: If people HAVE CONFIDENCE and DO NOT PANIC, HALF THE BATTLE IS WON.
These dates are :
August: 24th
September: 8th and 23rd
October: 7th and 22nd
November: 6th and 21st ( Note: these are probably "bhora kotal" dates)
December: 5th and, to some extent 21st
Of course, due to after-effect of Global Warming, there can be massive rainfall, and coupled with Tide surges, these can be devastating.
Solution: The embankments can be strengthened using innovative measures. Such innovative measures have to be cheap and, one can learn from primitive methods used. Let me give examples - Mud embankments strengthened with stone/rock boulder chips in between. This , as far as I know, increases the compaction factor.
I will give the solutions to the "bhora kotal", a special problem of Bengal.
And super-cyclone occurences, which are occuring throughout the world, in different names, called Hurricanes in North and South America, Typhoons in the South China Sea, and Hurricanes in the Bay of Bengal.
